Koh Ngai (sometimes Koh Hai) is a quiet island south-east of Lanta with a broad beach running most of its eastern shore and a coral reef that starts a few metres out.
It is where most four-island trips stop for lunch, and it is one of the few places where the snorkeling is good enough to do from the beach rather than from the boat.
The water is shallow and warm, which makes it the easiest stop of the day for children and for anyone who is not confident swimming in open water.
