The east coast of Lanta is a different island from the beach side. Mangrove forest runs down to the water and tidal channels cut back into it, wide enough for a longtail and quiet enough that the loudest thing is the birds.

Mudskippers sit on the exposed roots at low tide, fiddler crabs work the mud, monitor lizards swim across the channel, and hornbills move through the canopy for most of the year.

At the seaward end is Monkey Point, a rocky headland where a troop of long-tailed macaques lives. This is the trip our company is named after.
