Fishing & Snorkel Combo

Hand-line fishing off the reef edge with a local boatman, then two snorkel stops — and the catch cooked for you if you want it.

Hand-line fishing is how people here have always fished from a longtail: no rod, just line, weight and a hook over the side while the boat drifts along the reef edge.

The boatmen know where the drop-offs are and will happily show you the technique. Snapper, grouper, trevally and barracuda all turn up. After the fishing we move to two snorkel stops.

If you catch something worth eating we will grill it for you on the beach. If you catch nothing, lunch is still on — that part is not left to chance.

   Drift fishing with hand lines. Technique shown on board.

3. 11:00

   First snorkel stop

   Into the water over the coral.

4. 12:00

   Lunch and the grill

   Your catch cooked on the beach alongside lunch.

5. 13:00

   Second snorkel stop

   A last swim before heading in.
